As a part of the First Lady Michelle Obama’s initiative to fight against childhood obesity, healthy food marketing efforts are being proposed. This is to help encourage kids to eat healthier, well-balanced meals.
One of the major economic incentives proposed would help provide funding to bring healthier food to extremely urban (downtown areas) and rural (farmland and countryside) locations. Perhaps new supermarkets and grocery stories would be built in areas where they do not exist at this time.
Comments have been made by readers of news articles pertaining to this situation. Online online reader who is known as “porpoise boy” says that “they are not enough peeps in a given area to support a large well stock store with perishables.”
This same person also says that folks do not want to put a store where it will be robbed a few times a day. However, these could be generalizations and perhaps more market research is needed to be sure it would be economically feasible.
Other people in favor of the idea are glad that the children are trying to be helped. However, there seems to be quite a bit of negative feedback regarding this.
Overall, judging by the comments that online readers are leaving, Americans seem to be very skeptical about this new 70-point obesity reduction plan. The main reason why is because of all the efforts set in place within the past decade or so to implement healthy eating habits.
Opinion (Some After Thoughts)
Perhaps one of the areas of improvement American needs regarding childhood obesity is in the menus at the schools. Has this country ever considered the possibility that children might actually like some healthy fruit and veggie dishes, for instance.
There is actually a way to get veggies into children besides frying them all the time. This would possibly be one of the number one areas that would help kids the most. The stipulations regarding this should be relaxed.
